Thank you for registering for the 5th annual Rockin’ the River event! We are thrilled that you are taking part in this unique experience and want to make sure you have all the information you need to have a great time.

There will be a MANDATORY safety meeting with your flotilla leader. This will take place a 15 minutes before your launch, so we recommend that you have all of your equipment unloaded beforehand.

In regards to washroom access, there is a washroom at the Sports Park. NEW FOR 2025 there will be 2 porta-potties available approximately halfway through the paddle. The next washroom isn’t available until the end, at the Free Spirit Tours base in the Schoonertown Park. We therefore recommend that you use the facilities before your departure.

The paddle should take at least 4 hours to complete, but you’ll be paddling with the current so it should be easy paddling.

Here is a list of things to bring/wear:

  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Rain jacket (just in case)
  • Water shoes/sandals
  • Food/snacks

If you are bringing your own boat, please remember to bring the following:

  • Life jacket
  • Paddle
  • Safety kit (must include rope, whistle, flashlight, bailer – orange kit available at Canadian Tire – mandatory by law)

*Note: It is illegal to have open alcohol containers or be under the influence while you are paddling

If you are renting a boat from Free Spirit Tours, we will provide you with the above.
